Supplied consolidation v1, preserved for author review. The paragraphs retain their original development and claims; prior tests are reported, not rerun here. Current clarifications are separate editorial notes.
Supplied explanation
An occurrence may leave a trace; a later cue may reactivate a connection; a recalled connection may change action. These are different achievements. The laboratory’s textual examples become more informative when they identify which of these steps is actually supplied.
The journey prelude in 18:60–65 narrates an earlier event being reported later, recognized as relevant, and followed by retracing the route. The later servant episode supplies explanations but does not narrate Moses’s final response after every explanation. It is therefore inappropriate to assign both passages an identical complete cognitive loop.
Four orders must remain distinct: word order, presentation order, represented event order and order of recognition. A confession can name an earlier deviation after the moment of regret is mentioned. A later explanation can change the reader’s information without changing an earlier act. Earlier history inserted inside a present commission is not a chronological transcript of the character’s memory retrieval.
The duration estimates at 18:19, 2:259 and 23:113 share a day-or-part-day formulation but have different later qualifications. A number spoken by a character is not the same evidence as a number supplied by the narrator. The later count in the cave account does not prove that the awakened speakers themselves learned it. Numerical records must therefore preserve epistemic status as well as value.
Seeking reassurance is also not necessarily correcting disbelief. The affirmation in 2:260 and the accompanying request must remain distinct. A source-defined invitation to look again is not automatically a measurement of stored-state integration. Remembrance in 7:201 is linked to discernment, but the particular remembered content is not specified; inventing an antecedent would contaminate a retrieval benchmark.
The negative cases are part of the pattern library. A reminder can be rejected. Repetition can occur without remembrance. An initially useful turning can fail to endure after circumstances change. These cases prevent the decoder from treating every recurrence as learning or every reported thought as corrective use of history.
Basis: author residue/reference questions; Passes 5–6 with Pass 10 corrections; Passes 10–14; manuscript’s residue–trace–memory distinctions.
