The identity whose possible variation is measured.
Concept reference 11 · source-bound decode
In how many non-redundant ways can a continuing relation vary and remain consequential?
A dimension is a repeatedly available, consequential, identifiable, non-redundant mode of variation at a declared reference and resolution. An attribute is the recognizable relational quality through which that variation becomes addressable.
These are reference views of a concept. For the explanation in order, follow the complete narration with its constructions.
Identity boundary
The roles move when the selected identity or scale changes. This page declares the current reference instead of pretending the labels are absolute.
The identity whose possible variation is measured.
The consequential freedom that lets one variable alter continuation without merely renaming another.
The reference field against which different continuations can be distinguished.
Y-Engine operation
A continuing identity and candidate modes of change.
Independent consequential variations are distinguished from duplicate descriptions.
The reference, resolution, scale, and meaning of each coordinate.
A relational field that can support comparison, modelling, and later observation.
Geometry lens
An axis is earned only when it represents an independent consequential freedom. Adding visual directions does not add dimensions to the identity.
Matrix lens
Rows, columns, tensors, and coordinates encode declared degrees of freedom; increasing resolution or array size does not automatically increase dimensionality.
Manifestation lens
Physical, biological, mental, social, and theological dimensions must name different native variables even when they occupy corresponding structural positions.

Do not collapse dimension, depth, resolution, bandwidth, scale, frequency, or vocabulary into one number.
A dimension is a repeatedly available, consequential, identifiable, and non-redundant way in which one continuing relation can vary under a declared reference and resolution.
Guardrail: One value is not a dimension. A temporary combination is not automatically a new dimension.

Dimensionality counts irreducible freedoms; depth tracks relations becoming terms in wider relations; resolution tracks fineness of distinction; bandwidth tracks how many modes can be coherently active; scale names the declared identity and reference.
Guardrail: Dividing one range into ten or one hundred intervals increases resolution, not dimensionality.

An attribute is the recognizable relational quality through which a dimension becomes meaningful and addressable. It is not a substance stored inside Mind.
Guardrail: Different words may name one dimension, and one word may compress several dimensions. Vocabulary does not create structure.
