A Mind in space and time
Explore one Mind: differentiated internal identities, physical and mental participation, retained history and the return through which understanding changes what happens next.
A source-grounded architecture for simulating one Mind, with a precise account of the current numerical explorer. The paired physical–mental operation and intentional self-correction are design requirements; this revision does not claim the phase model already performs them. Supplied functions are valid modeling choices when their consequences are connected and testable.
One Mind is the subject of the simulation
We are modeling one Mind. Its differentiated identities, their hierarchies, their interactions and their continuing integration constitute that Mind. The immediate task is to open this internal organization and understand its operation. Its possible participation within a wider Mind follows from that architecture.
The layers are participating operations of one wider continuity. They are not seven independent Minds. A local identity can have finer internal relations without every constituent being a copy of the complete Mind. A repeated relational grammar allows different organizations, meanings and histories.
We can explicitly supply a hierarchy, dimensional modes, memory, meanings, local access and response rules. Then test whether they do the named work: retained history affects a later response; a purpose coordinates possible continuations; comparison returns into the same organization. Independent formation and subjective experience are separate research questions.
Open the numerical explorer, or follow patterns, understanding and Mind within Mind. The explorer currently supplies the numerical and dynamical foundation for this fuller operation.
Hierarchy is belonging and reciprocal consequence
An identity is constituted through particular relations. A higher identity integrates differentiated contributions; its changed condition returns into those contributions. For each hierarchical link, ask what makes these relations constituents of this identity, and what changes because they belong to it.
A containment tree records addresses. The operating hierarchy also needs integration and return. Renaming a node, placing it higher on a screen or making a smaller copy does not enact that operation. A recurring grammar is not a completed inner life copied everywhere.
Two numerical addresses identify different records. Their modeled distinctions come from their actual participation, organization and retained histories. For richer mental identities, differences can include which distinctions are integrated together, which relations are accessible and which continuations they sustain.
Outside is relative to the identity under consideration. An expectation can encounter a constraint outside that expectation while both remain inside the same Mind. An inside–outside encounter therefore does not require another person or a separate world.
Viewed from a wider reference, the complete Mind can participate as one identity while retaining its internal history. That wider recursion remains part of the design; it does not replace the work of explaining the one Mind we have opened.
Constituent changes → changed higher identity → changed conditions for its constituents
Physical and mental aspects operate together
The physical aspect concerns embodied participation: boundaries, receiving capacities, exchanges, timing, orientation and available actions. The mental aspect concerns how available differences enter retained experience, correlations, interpretation, anticipated continuations and direction. Both belong to the same continuing identity.
An encounter becomes a received difference. It changes an internal relation. That change can alter attention, preparation or action; the resulting encounter then returns a consequence. The inward course and outward course must affect each other. A story added to a moving point after the fact does not supply this coupling.
Physical does not simply mean outside, and mental does not simply mean inside. Each aspect has its own inside–outside relations: physical processes can occur within a body, and internal interpretation can concern an outside identity. Inside, outside and relation remain the grammar operating within and between the aspects.
Here, coupled or entangled aspects means this consequential connection. It makes no additional claim of quantum entanglement. The correspondence between particular physical and mental modes must be specified for the chosen simulation.
The newer narrated introduction implements a small body-response and comparison-return candidate: reception changes internal activity; retained whole-level comparison changes the next body response and phase. The decimal explorer on this page has a different role: recursive delayed phase composition and evolving directed weights. Its visitor comparison is not consumed as a meaning-guided internal policy. The existing numerical return in one model should not be erased because the complete mental architecture is unfinished in another.
Encounter → reception → internal reorganization → changed participation → returned consequence
Ten positions and a hundred relations describe one local field
Inside, outside and relation give three primary roles. Their ordered role-to-role routes give nine positions. Adding the whole-level position W gives ten positions, and the directed origin-and-destination table gives one hundred addresses: 81 field-to-field, 9 field-to-whole, 9 whole-to-field and 1 whole self-return.
Ten positions and one hundred addresses can both belong inside one Mind. The entire organization can then participate as one identity in a wider Mind. The hundred entries do not require a hundred separate child Minds.
The twelve-address reading is a different construction: three primary roles together with their nine opened inner readings. Seven describes recursive operating depth under the source’s stated depth-address bridge. Neither count is the same as containment depth, independent dimension count or the number of spatial samples.
A number lets us follow a participant or directed relation. It does not by itself establish the dynamical continuity, size or strength of that identity. Numerical complement and reversed direction are also different: the pair n and 100−n gives complementary shares, while exchanging sender and receiver transposes the matrix.
3 × 3 = 9; 9 + 1 = 10
10 × 10 = 81 + 9 + 9 + 1 = 100
3 + 9 = 12
q = n/100; 1−q = (100−n)/100
What the current numerical explorer implements
The default numerical explorer retains ten Y-engine oscillator instances and one hundred evolving directed relation weights per opened unit. Its local and whole phases advance through the existing seven-depth core. Weighted phase inputs travel through receiving delays and alter subsequent state. Matrix and torus views read that same run.
An ordinary relation address can be opened into another unit with the same numerical template. Every opened unit keeps stepping. This demonstrates retained recursive phase composition; it does not yet specify why a remembered commitment, an expectation and a purpose form a particular meaningful higher identity. Those functional distinctions are a further architectural requirement, not something established by giving the units different numbers.
The current connection is deliberately narrow: the parent relation’s sender phase, weighted by that relation, drives the child’s W position; the child W whole phase returns to the parent relation’s endpoints. Both directions use the receiving delays. The child has its own internal organization, but the outward exchange currently compresses it to this phase interface.
A compact signal can legitimately express the outward participation of a whole running unit; it need not copy every internal variable into the wider interaction. The present interface exposes a chosen phase operation. The complete teaching target additionally represents body, dimensional modes, meanings, whole-field orientation and an observer policy, with their relevant effects connected to that participation. These are specific composition tasks, not prerequisites for allowing explicitly modeled Minds.
The earlier moving model remains selectable. It has 28 oscillator identities and 54 directed links in a supplied ten-level hierarchy. Its travelling viewpoint, phase aperture and common 23-degree frame belong to that earlier profile. They must not be described as controls or mechanisms of the numerical default.
The numerical unit has existing causal phase history. It has no implemented semantic access profile, internal alternative-action workspace or intention-driven comparison-and-return policy. The visitor’s inspection controls must therefore be described as inspection, not as the modeled Mind gaining awareness.
Relational position can change without spatial relocation
An identity can remain at the same displayed coordinate and containment address while changing what it can receive, correlate, retain, coordinate with or attempt. Its position within the organization of relations has changed. This is movement of relational participation, even when the body stays still.
Spatial position and relational organization are separate state descriptions. A row permutation only renames the matrix; it does not change the participating relations. A tilt only represents alignment when its mapping is stated and the relevant operation uses that alignment.
A structurally possible continuation can be available now yet inaccessible under the identity’s present organization. Realignment can make it usable without a spatial journey. The enacted change still has an order: this is not a claim that an update has no before and after.
The present phase model already changes weights and phases. Its torus positions are calculated from part of that state. It does not yet implement intentional reorganization of semantic access. The root shown here is a manifested whole under examination; non-temporal Source is not a body orbiting at tick zero.
Same spatial position and address; different participating relations and accessible continuations
History already participates in the running relation
The model already carries consequences forward through delay histories, residues and evolving relation weights. Those retained values enter later updates. In this limited dynamical sense, history is already functional; memory does not have to wait for a separate collection of written descriptions.
The source distinguishes inherited consequence, a particular retained trace and history reused in a present operation. A fixed structure can shape a passage. A structure changed by previous passages can also carry their history into the next encounter.
Keep that internal carry-forward separate from the visitor’s tools. The numerical Remember and Compare buttons save and compare an address’s state for the reader. The earlier moving model’s plotted trail records projected positions. Those records do not currently feed an automatic observer policy.
A model can therefore have causal retained history while still lacking the particular whole-level comparison-and-return loop we want to teach. Naming that missing loop should not erase the memory mechanisms already running.
A further retained experiment makes a trace-to-coupling route explicit. In the active-trace induction lesson, stored flow changes a trace, the trace changes the coupling factor, and the changed relation changes later flow. A matched check after twenty normalized seconds gave flow 0.1808283 with adaptation and 0.1478750 with only trace adaptation removed. Those values belong to that particular dimensionless profile and initial conditions. They establish an implemented feedback path; they do not identify it with electromagnetic induction in physical units.
An internal episode: a commitment changes its meaning
Consider a promise represented inside one Mind. This is an illustrative specification, not a built-in promise module or an episode already running in the explorer. Its identity involves a retained commitment, an anticipated action, a relation to someone and a continuing purpose. Those constituents have different roles; they are not smaller promises or identical complete Minds.
A new constraint makes the anticipated action unavailable. Internally, that constraint encounters the expectation. The discrepancy is compared with the retained commitment and with what the promise serves. The meaningful change is more than increasing or decreasing one numerical strength: the relation among commitment, possible action and purpose has changed.
The Mind can explore another action internally before acting. A higher interpretation may preserve the commitment through a different means. That interpretation changes which possibilities receive attention and how the next action is prepared. The eventual outcome returns and may correct the interpretation again.
Every stage belongs to the same Mind. A higher meaning reorganizes constituent relations, and changed constituents revise the higher meaning. Words may represent those relations explicitly, but the modeled memory, interpretation and response must carry the effects described.
Story then connects what was encountered, how it was interpreted, what was attempted, what followed and how that changed the next interpretation. Body supplies conditions for reception and action. In the source vocabulary, Heart concerns what the integrated capacity serves; it is not a spatial angle or another processing depth.
Commitment + expectation + new constraint + purpose → revised possible action → consequence → revised understanding
More usable distinctions can widen participation
Finer resolution separates conditions previously compressed together. A newly supported mode permits a different kind of variation to remain consequential. These are related developments, but finer subdivision does not always add another dimension.
For example, a receiver can move from “signal present” to distinguishing timing, source, relation to a prior event and relevance to a purpose. Internal differentiation expands its usable relationship with its surroundings. It need not enlarge the body or increase a geometric field radius.
The operating chain is finer distinctions, usable correlations, integrated comparison, additional accessible continuations and changed participation. Merely adding addresses supplies none of those gains automatically. Two participants can have the same possible address structure and very different current access.
Access should therefore be represented across modes and scales: what is receivable, retained, compared and usable in a response. Capacity can be uneven across those modes. There is no source-derived universal equation “awareness = node count”, nor a single rank that captures every capacity.
Opening a subdivision in the interface is an action by the visitor. It is separate from the modeled identity acquiring the capacity to register, retain or use that distinction. The simulator can expose a state to us without granting it to the local observer.
Finer distinction → usable correlation → wider comparison → additional continuation → changed participation
Attention, intention and correction have different jobs
Attention is the present aperture: what enters the current comparison. Intention retains a direction that can recover or redirect attention later. Purpose coordinates several intentions; whole-field orientation concerns what that coordination serves.
An explicitly modeled self-correction can compare response with retained history and an anticipated continuation, then change later attention, interpretation, inhibition, receiving weights or action. The correction changes how the identity responds next; it is more than an unexplained push on its position.
Intention does not grant unrestricted access or make its interpretation true by preference. Attempted action meets the surrounding conditions, and returned consequences can require correction. Understanding includes both useful correspondence and differences that revise the retained pattern.
A numerical policy that favours predictable inputs would be one possible experiment. Predictability alone is not meaning, correctness, purpose or ethical orientation. It has not been selected here as a substitute for the fuller architecture.
The observer is a Mind with limited access
An act of observation registers, distinguishes or compares a change through a relation. In the author’s current Y-Theory terminology, an observer is the continuing Mind system that carries a differentiated internal organization, relates its own patterns and history to an outside, and can use those correlations for intentional correction and wider usable access. A detector, reference point, self-label or isolated feedback loop does not establish that whole organization.
Three-dimensional space is one represented domain. The model may also carry timing, retained history, information, expectation and meaning without turning each into another spatial axis. Distinguish those modeled modes from matrix addresses, processing depths and containment levels.
A permitted relation can be inactive now. A zero current expression need not mean that the relation is forbidden. Likewise, variables that are separately available need not be jointly viable; they belong to one organization with shared constraints.
A situated observer belongs to this same internal organization. A difference arriving from outside one local identity can remain inside the encompassing Mind. The observer correlates available patterns with retained relations; the resulting correspondence or mismatch must affect a later reception or response. The viewpoint marker is a way to inspect that access, not a spectator who automatically understands it.
A comparison-and-return model can receive a whole-level reading, retain a prior reading, compare them and return a consequence. To model the observer named here, connect that operation to the continuing Mind’s internal identities, self–outside pattern relations, possible continuations and intentional direction. This fuller architecture may be supplied explicitly; it must do the work claimed.
Its comparison should use what reaches that local identity through modeled channels and history. The visitor may inspect every state, but an allegedly local observer must not quietly receive that same unrestricted access. Hidden causes can still affect it indirectly through legitimate routes.
The earlier phase aperture is a display selection; the current numerical reference-share control changes reading metadata. Neither currently supplies that full reception-and-return policy. This mechanism is describable and implementable; it need not emerge spontaneously to be studied.
Continuing field → delivered influence → local registration → retained comparison → returned consequence
The observing Mind changes with its own observation
A self-reference is formed and renewed through the Mind’s changing organization. It is not an unchanged spectator installed before the process begins. Its representation of self and its acts of self-observation are distinct from the whole Mind that sustains them.
An interpretation can change before that change is available to self-observation. Internal illumination names the later availability of that difference to the Mind’s own history and comparison. A stationary self-marker or unchanged projection does not mean the observing organization has stopped changing.
Story and purpose retain a direction through the observer’s changing relations. “To know” means using inner–outer correspondence, difference and returned consequence to understand where it is navigating and revise what it attempts. The numerical explorer currently exposes state to the visitor; it does not implement that complete intentional observer.
Separate spatial expression from spatial interaction
The present causal path is relation state → delayed receiving update → changed phase → changed projected position. That is a real computational dependency. Distance, relative body orientation and size do not currently feed a corresponding spatial interaction law back into the phase update.
The intended extension asks how an identity’s organization determines what it expresses and receives around it, and how an encounter changes its future expression and response. A spatial field may help express this loop, but its transported quantity and response rule must be identified.
Position must keep one coherent meaning. It may be a projection of relational state, a constrained dynamical coordinate, or an independently updated coordinate. Adding an attraction displacement and then overwriting it with the next torus projection would not implement a consistent spatial response.
This remains the source-first force investigation already linked in relations, flux and motion. The present explanation does not choose a new force law merely to make the motion look more physical.
There is already a working physical carrier example. Prescribed current loops produce a magnetic field at a probe through the Biot–Savart calculation; route, phase, tilt and separation change that result. The field has not yet been returned as a force or torque that moves those loops or changes their driving current. To add that return, bind the source quantity, receiver response, inertia, drive and losses rather than treating the torus path as the force.
Common tilt and relative orientation do different work
The earlier profile rotates the whole displayed field about a23-degree mean tilt, with a default 3-degree half-band, 12 degrees per model-second spin and 24-model-second tilt period. Camera rotation, this common frame rotation and each participant’s own operating orientation are distinct operations.
Applying the same rigid rotation G to both participants preserves their relative orientation and separation at that instant. An interaction depending only on those relative quantities should therefore be unchanged. An unrotated external directional field could make the rotation consequential if that field belongs to the model.
For a recursive orientation representation, a possible composition is world orientation = parent orientation × local orientation. If a chosen interaction is direction-sensitive, its operator must consume the relevant relative orientation. An isotropic response will not change merely because its representation is rotated.
The supplied clarification gives 23 degrees an intended structural meaning through the twelve- and ten-position readings. 12 − 10 = 2 is arithmetic between two counts; those counts alone do not specify an angle. The mapping from the named readings to 23 degrees remains to be stated. The current numerical profile has no operating local-orientation state, and no such angle law was added by this review.
(GQj)ᵀ(GQi) = QjᵀQi
Qi,world = Qparent,world Qi,local
Toroidal concentration has an exact, conditional reading
For a ring torus with major radius R and minor radius r, equal angular patches do not have equal surface area. The inner patch is smaller. If each angular patch is assigned the same amount, its amount per surface area is higher on the inside.
The inner-to-outer density ratio is (R+r)/(R−r). At r/R=1/φ this is φ³, about 4.236. The current numerical explorer instead fixes R=6 and r=2, so this equal-angular-allocation ratio is 2. Its golden reference share is a different variable. The earlier breathing profile has φ³ only when its instantaneous radius ratio is exactly 1/φ.
These are chart calculations under equal angular allocation, not measurements of how the moving identities, energy or magnetic influence are actually distributed. Density, tangential circulation and flux through a surface are different quantities. A current tangent to the surface can circulate without crossing it.
The narrowing inner region does not by itself supply attraction or a black-hole horizon. The useful next question is what is transported, through which route, and how its arrival changes another identity.
dA = r(R + r cos θ) dθ dψ
σinner / σouter = (R+r)/(R−r), under equal amount per angular patch
R=6, r=2 → ratio 2; r/R=1/φ → ratioφ³
Preserve the golden derivation and the seven-depth bridge
Positive adjacent inheritance (x,y)→(x+y,x) selects the golden limiting proportion. At the exact golden pair, the whole pair grows by φ while its proportion stays fixed. A stable proportion therefore need not freeze the full state. Near it, the closed recurrence’s normalized error alternates and contracts; continuing excursions require an identified input or update.
Under the source’s ten-part directed metric, 1/φ and 2/3 occupy address seven. The source’s explicit D:=a(q) bridge reuses that address as recursive turning depth. This is an exact conditional derivation. It is not a convergence-step count or a rule that the seventh containment level becomes an observer.
Inherited allocation, phase-rate ratio, torus-radius ratio, hierarchy scale and aperture centre are different uses of a number. Translating between them requires a specified mapping. Neither repeated numerals nor a repeating decimal expansion supplies a physical mechanism: three thirds sum exactly to one.
The source derivations and their conditions are available in golden inheritance and seven recursive depths.
r² = r + 1; φ = (1+√5)/2
(φ,1) → φ(φ,1)
a(q)=min(10,1+floor(10q)); D:=a(1/φ)=a(2/3)=7
Keep measurements attached to their model
Numerical hundred-address profile: a quarter-turn disturbance to root sender 0 at tick 180 produces receiver 1 and W phase differences of 0.08989967467056648 and 0.09562135215088485 radians at tick 300. Both differences are zero in the corresponding uncoupled control.
In its cross-level tests, parent-to-child and child-to-parent differences after 20 model seconds are 0.02374932009876929 and 0.003059910529756848 radians, with zero corresponding uncoupled effects. A shorter four-second child-return check produced only 2.2925510378968283e−9 radians. The slow effect was retained in the record; no shortcut was inserted through the depth chain.
Earlier 28-node profile: its separate node 2 disturbance produced parent and child differences of 0.243990 and 0.203863 radians at tick 300, with zero uncoupled differences. These are measurements of the earlier fixture, not values from the new hundred-address experiment.
The numerical three-unit 20-second run remained finite at coupling 2; the earlier profile also has its recorded 100-second finite-run check. Such runs verify the stated experiments. Coordinate bounds imposed by a torus map are separate from a proof of indefinite dynamical stability.
Complete delayed transmission matters. The earlier profile had to delay its sender-dependent coupling coefficient as well as phase. A future orientation or distance rule must not quietly reveal the sender’s not-yet-arrived state through another coefficient. The receiving identity can still apply its own current local sensitivity when the influence arrives.
The delay tests establish the named active-input perturbation controls. They do not establish every switching case: in the numerical profile, present input coherence can select whether an external input is active. A stronger all-path delay guarantee must also check transitions between active, cancelled and absent input.
Show one operation through its physical, mental and relational readings
The physical reading shows the actual course of exchanges, timing, movement and outcomes. The mental reading shows received distinctions, retained encounters, alternative continuations and direction. The coupling reading identifies which event changed which internal relation and which internal change altered the later response.
The matrix must expose those same active relations and receiving weights. The geometric reading projects the same identity and state under a stated coordinate map. A contact reading must show what an encounter retains, transforms or passes onward. These are views of one operation and history, rather than unrelated simulations with matching labels.
A useful comparison holds the declared physical process and starting conditions fixed, then enables or disables the selected mental return. Physical carry-forward remains present in both. The test is whether the modeled internal organization changes later reception or action through the stated path.
This is not predictable versus unpredictable. Both profiles can be deterministic and reproducible. A complete internal state can predict what visible position alone cannot; useful self-correction may even make a course steadier. Random-looking motion is not evidence of a mental function.
For the promise illustration, record the encounter, received constraint, retained commitment, alternatives compared, direction chosen, action and returned result. A change in one constituent should have a traceable effect on the integrated interpretation and its later return. That is the next operational acceptance target; no new mental controller or spatial force is claimed by this explanation update.
The same whole can be opened at another resolution
Earth provides an analogy for changing resolution: externally one body, internally environmental processes, organisms and minds. Inspecting the participants does not erase the containing whole, and returning to the whole view should not stop its instantiated participants.
To model that relation, internal changes must contribute to the wider conditions, and those conditions must return into local operation. A separate scene appearing after a click would not itself implement this continuity.
A containing system can support local observers without automatically being one unified conscious subject. The analogy concerns organization and return. Our immediate simulation remains one selected Mind and the differentiated relations through which it continues.
One progression, several explicit model families
Begin with the introduction’s body and comparison return, open the decimal relation architecture, inspect current and magnetic field, then follow active trace changing future coupling. The common question is what carries change, what receives it, what remains, and what returns. Each experiment retains the quantities and update rules that make its answer checkable.
These are connected stages of investigation, not yet one numerical state shared by every page. A causal connection between two model families must specify the sending quantity, receiving quantity, conversion, direction, delay and retained state. A physical motion model additionally needs its source–response binding and accounting for inertia, drive and loss. The recovered flux derivations provide the mathematical starting points.

Questions to carry forward
Is retained comparison enough to call the model an observer?
No under the current author definition. It is an operation within the required full Mind: differentiated internal relations, self–outside correlation, history, possible continuation and intentional correction with sustained direction.
Are we simulating one Mind or a population of Minds?
The immediate subject is one Mind and its differentiated internal identities. The complete Mind can participate in a wider relation, but that wider recursion does not replace the internal organization we are studying.
Does every internal identity have to be an identical smaller Mind?
No. The relational grammar can recur while constituents have different organizations, roles, histories and access. A shared template does not establish identical mental identities.
Can participation change while the body stays still?
Yes, in the proposed architecture. Reception, retained comparison and accessible continuations can change while spatial position and containment address stay fixed. The current numerical model does not yet implement intentional semantic realignment.
Does opening an interior give the simulated observer more awareness?
No. Opening is a visitor action and currently instantiates a finite phase unit. Modeled access would need its own receiving, retaining and integration mechanisms.
Are physical and mental the same distinction as outside and inside?
No. Each aspect has its own inside–outside relations. Their coupling connects embodied encounter with internal interpretation and returned action.
Do we have to create a conscious Mind before simulating its architecture?
No. We can explicitly supply the organization and modeled functions being studied. Test their operation and distinguish that experiment from independent formation or subjective experience.
Is one hundred addresses the same as one hundred Minds?
No. The chart holds directed relations among ten positions. The intended outward participant is a whole local Mind. The current explorer can attach an interior to a relation address as a chosen recursive composition.
Is memory absent from the current model?
No. Retained delay state, residues and relation weights already affect later dynamics. The visitor’s saved comparisons and displayed trails are separate records; they do not yet operate as a whole-level observer policy.
Does supplied geometry make the simulation invalid?
No. A chosen torus can be a valid representation. State which quantities it represents and which consequences the update actually computes.
Does changing 23 degrees change the current interaction?
In the earlier profile it changes a common displayed frame. It does not change the local phase kernel. Relative operating orientation requires its own modeled state and a direction-sensitive interaction.
Does 12−10 derive 23 degrees?
No angle follows from that subtraction alone. The proposed structural interpretation is preserved, but the transformation from the named readings to an angle remains unspecified.
Is the toroidal throat a black hole?
The current profiles draw a narrowing toroidal region. They do not calculate a causal event horizon. A black-hole correspondence needs the physical model supporting that claim.
Does a selected golden band define visible light or an Earth atmosphere?
No. The earlier band selects a normalized phase range. Neither profile calculates an electromagnetic detector spectrum, atmospheric gases or radiation transport.
Should inner and outer views look identical?
Their shared grammar can be compared after matching identity, scale, orientation and phase. Their actual states and pictures can differ; a golden coordinate alone does not ensure image equality.
What remains when a participant is not visible?
Instantiated states continue updating when the view hides them or moves elsewhere. Unopened interiors in the numerical experiment have not yet been instantiated; that resource policy is separately reported.
Can meaning or purpose be part of the simulation?
Yes. Supply a clear interpretation and connect it to modeled access, retained history and an action or response rule. Its unfolding can depend on encounters rather than a fixed storyline.
